BN 2023 - 2024 Classes 

CONTEMPORARY:

BARRE NONE Contemporary is a class that explores and expresses with the body through the freedom of movement  - often inspired by music. 

  Jr Contemporary:  must be in one BN Ballet, Technique or BN Jazz class (ages 7-11)   

Sr Contemporary: must be in one BN Ballet, Technique, BN Jazz or by invitation (ages 12+)

TECHNIQUE:

BARRE NONE Technique is a class strictly focused on the skills of a dancer. This class will consit of stretch, strength and fine tuning of technique. We highly reccomend this class for a dancer would is looking to hone in on their dance technique. There will be no year end dance for this class.

 Technique: must be in one other BN class (ages 9+)  

JAZZ:

BARRE NONE Jazz classes consists of a warm-up , centre floor, stretch, sequences and routines, all of which develop technique and style.  Jazz training also develops stamina, physical fitness, flexibility and strength.    

Jazz 1: K - Gr. 2

Jazz 2: Gr. 3 -  Gr. 5

Jazz 3: Gr. 5  - Gr. 7  

Jazz 4: 12+  

Adult Jazz: 18+

TAP:

BARRE NONE Tap training develops a dancer's rhythm and co-ordination.  Each class includes warm-up, progressions and routines.  Whether you count, sing or stomp out the steps, your feet will be the music.   

 Tap 1: 3 yrs  - 5yrs

Tap 2: 6yrs - 11yrs

Tap 3: 11+     

Adult Tap: 18+ with some experience

HIP HOP:

BARRE NONE Hip Hop classes will allow our dancers to explore a genre of dance that stands on its own. A change up from ballet or jazz classes with many categories of its own to explore. Come and find another side to your dancing with BN Hip Hop.

Jr Hip Hop: Gr. 1 - Gr. 5

Sr Hip Hop: 12+

BN COMPANY:

BARRE NONE Company members are dancers who want performance training and performance opportunities. This is a regularly priced 60-minute class, plus there will be extra competition fees. Company class focuses purely on choreography; therefore, to become a company member dancers MUST take TWO BN classes. One must be either Technique or Ballet. *some exceptions may be made*

BN Company: 10+                                                      

BARRE NONE Company will represent the studio in major Dance Festivals on the Island and will perform at other public appearances.   

BARRE NONE Company dancers must be committed and attend ALL rehearsals and performances. There will be a FIRM 3 strikes (missed classes without permission) and you’re out policy.

FIRST STEPS:

BARRE NONE offers the opportunity for new dancers (2.5 - 5 year olds) to creatively learn movement, coordination and rhythm in a fun and safe environment. This is a full dance year commitment.

First Steps classes in Ballet: 3 - 5 years

First Steps classes in Jazz: 3 - 5 years

First Steps classes in Tap: 3 - 5 years

BN PARENT & TOT:

BN Parent & Tot is a class for you and your 12-24 month old to learn about movement and music in a fun welcoming environment. Come join us for some fun!

BARRE NONE RECREATIONAL CLASSES:
Recreational classes are a great opportunity to try a certain dance class or style, without the commitment of the full year or full dance tuition. There are numerous BN rec classes to take out of the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre. 2 - 4 sessions occur throughout the dance year. It sessions runs either 5 or 6 weeks long, with a demonstration presentation at the end of the session. NOTE - Rec classes will NOT be participating in the BN dance recital. Registration of these classes will be through the CVRD.

PRIVATE WEDDING DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY:
Do you want to make your FIRST dance the most memoriable dance of the evening? BN will work with you to create a couples dance that everyone at your wedding will remember! But we don't stop just there... How about the bride and her bridesmaids getting Bootylicious to Beyonce? Or the groommen hitting the dance floor to re-enact their favourite boy band? From classic to crazy, we promise our choreography will be a complete crowd-pleaser!               $50 per hour
